SOBERING UP
Lindsay messaged me on Instagram asking if I could take her headshots, and I of course couldn’t be happier to since we both don’t have many things going on this summer. I wanted to do more than just regular backdrop portraits, so I came up with this concept of an hangover, or a post-breakup if you prefer to look at it that way, given that I’m living alone for a while in a suite I just moved in last week and that the place would be such a good fit for my creative direction. For the balloon shot, I initially wanted to have her write or draw some expressive things with a marker on fully-pumped balloons. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a hand pump on set and the idea therefore didn’t make it to the finals. I eventually went with shots of Lindsay trying to blow into the red balloon instead.
On a personal note, this girl is one of my most treasured friends in college and she’s transferring to CalArts next semester to pursue what she loves doing in a fullest way. I hope this shoot leaves you with good memories about this place and all the fun we had together, Lindsay. Times we skimmed the first paragraph of technical instructions for David’s class and decided that was enough reading for a day, or just now when you walked into Target wearing smudged makeup and a big white prom gown to get those kids balloons. Will miss you more than I can imagine :x
