Xin chào! This is Lyn/Lan Thi, based in Hanoi, Vietnam.
I graduated from Muhlenberg College in May 2022 with a Bachelor of Arts in Film Studies (production concentration) and Media & Communications. My areas of interest mostly lie in creative direction and cinematography.
Aware of how the visual translation from ideas to execution can oftentimes be so unpredictable, I strive to make such an inevitable change a pleasant one, at least to my belief—by using some sensibility of a young practitioner who’s currently in the prolonged process of experimenting and failing and rediscovering.
In fall 2021, I attended a semester abroad at FAMU, Prague, where I was fortunately exposed to filming in 16mm. The narrative short titled “Over” that our all-women team worked on over a three-month intensive course has made several achievements: finalist of the British Short Film Awards 2022 for Student Short Film; semi-finalist of the Student Los Angeles Film Awards 2022 for Best Student Film; official selection of the Greater Lehigh Valley Filmmaker Festival 2022, Southside Film Festival Bethlehem 2022 (winner of the Fowler Audience award for Favorite Short Film) and LA Independent Women Awards 2022 for Best Student Film.
I’ve headed back to my hometown Hanoi in August, 2023 after concluding my one year at Tina Kim Gallery, New York as Media Coordinator. As of now, I’m working as Visual Executive for C.DAM and CHATS by C.DAM.
